AirFiber Internet Access

Fixed wireless techlology

One Internet America is your local ISP Provider delivering Fixed Wireless Connectivity among other services which gives you an “always on”, lightning fast Internet connection.

AirFiber = Fixed Wireless

Instead of using a phone line or cable, One Internet America uses carrier grade radio technology to connect your business via “Fixed Wireless” when other methods are not available.
One Internet America gives you freedom! You are not locked into any unfair or lengthy contract meaning you won’t be paying for outdated technologies or high fees years after you connect. With One Internet America you’re free to switch from plan to plan as you see fit, without a contract maintaining wireless internet connectivity at all time!

Because we are a local, independent, privately owned telecommunications company, we are able to deploy broadband in a flexible way to areas which have in the past not been able to receive internet at all from other providers offering DSL, T1, Ethernet, Fiber Optic or Cable Internet.

What is AirFiber?

AirFiber use fixed wireless broadband technology to deliver the same high speeds and service of traditional broadband providers but delivered wirelessly as opposed to through buried cables.

Typically, a small antenna is placed on your building that receives a direct signal from one of our towers nearby. Unlike technology used for cellular data, the wireless connection from your location “end point” and the tower allows for fast reliable service via a fixed wireless connection. This prevents the interrupted data experienced by cell phone users that often happen as signals bounce from one tower to another.

Is Air Fiber right for my business?

Air Fiber broadband internet is a perfect match for small businesses. With services from One Internet America, businesses can scale their bandwidth, data and service needs as they grow. We have experience bringing high speed service to businesses in your area, and a quick chat about your needs can help us offer a custom plan for you and your team, rather than the one-size-fits-all “business bundle” offered by the large providers.

What equipment will I need to buy?

Depending on the plan you need, potentially nothing. You will need an antenna to connect to the service but this is covered in the installation fee.

A technician will confirm connectivity onsite at your location, install your antenna and connect you to our high speed internet service. Once a connection to you is established, you can continue to use your typical wireless or wired router just as you would with a traditional connection.

What kind of antenna do you use?

We have a range of antennas that are used to provide service. It will depend upon your particular requirements as to which antenna we use. Our largest antenna is about the size of a satellite dish. A typical rooftop installation takes 1 to 3 hours to complete.

Air Fiber vs Satellite Internet

Satellite technology has similar reach of the Air Fiber but suffers from data lags called “latency” as the signals literally travel to space. Data usage caps are common and costs tend to be higher than those offered by One Internet America

Wireless high speed broadband from One Internet America can prove an excellent alternative to satellite in rural areas where traditional broadband infrastructure has not yet been laid and customers are stuck with slow, expensive service.

Will my service be affected by weather?

Certain Wireless technologies (Satellite, cellular, for example) can be affected by weather, however we calibrate the frequencies used by Air Fiber technologies to reduce and eliminate what is known as “rain fade.”

How do I ensure my network is secure?

While our crew at One Internet America deploys different security protocols, the most vulnerable point of a connection is the end customer’s wifi network. Keeping your local network secure is key to making sure your connection stays clean.  A few things to remember:

Always encrypt your network –  A WiFi network without a password is like a home without a door, you are just asking for unwanted guests.

Change the default settings – Your router typically comes with common default settings for the network name, password, and IP address. It is best to change all of these as soon as you can.

Use a strong password – Avoid you name, your dog’s name, your phone number etc. – if your neighbors could guess it, its not secure.  Always combine letters, numbers, characters and cases.

Air Fiber or DSL?

DSL internet service requires a phone line connected to your house and the monthly fees that go along with it. DSL’s quality of service is effected by distance from the provider’s hub and how many other customers are on at the same time.

One Internet America offer consistent speeds throughout the day and service doesn’t degrade from one house to the next. Availability of DSL has no bearing on whether you can get Internet access from One Internet America. Plus, with the number of covered zip codes growing rapidly fewer and fewer areas are reliant on obsolete DSL technology.
